Privacy Policy

Recibase (“we”, “us”) turns cooking videos into structured recipes. This policy explains what data we collect when you use the Recibase mobile app and website, why we collect it, and the choices you have.
What we collect
Account information
- Email address and name when you create an account (or the name/email shared by Apple or Google if you sign in with them; Apple’s “Hide My Email” relay addresses are supported).
- A hashed password if you register with email — we never store plain-text passwords.
Content you submit
- The video URLs you paste or share into the app.
- The recipes extracted from those videos, and which ones you save to your library.
Usage and subscription data
- Extraction counts per month, used to enforce plan quotas.
- Subscription status from our billing provider (we never see or store your card number).
Diagnostics
- If the app crashes or hits an error, we receive a technical report: what failed and where in our code, plus your device model, OS version, and app version.
- Reports are labelled with your account ID — never your email address — so we can tell how many people a given bug affects.
- Before a report leaves your device, we remove authentication tokens and the query parameters of any web address it contains — everything after the “?”, which is where details like your search terms appear.
Service providers
We rely on a small number of service providers to run the app. Each one processes only what its function requires:
- Transcription & structuring — video captions or audio from the public video are processed by third-party AI service providers to produce the recipe text. Note that this is the video creator’s public content — not your personal information.
- Ingredient images — illustrative ingredient images are AI-generated and served from our content delivery infrastructure.
- Billing — subscriptions are managed by a subscription-management service together with the App Store or Google Play. We never see or store your payment details.
- Email — transactional emails (like password resets) are sent through an email delivery service.
- Diagnostics — crash and error reports are processed by an error-monitoring service so we can find and fix bugs.
These providers process data solely to deliver the service, under agreements that prohibit using it for their own purposes. We do not sell your personal data to anyone. A current list of our service providers is available on request at privacy@recibase.app.
What we don’t collect
- No advertising identifiers, and no third-party advertising SDKs.
- No contacts, photos, or location data.
- No payment card details — billing happens entirely through the app stores.
- No session recording or screen capture — our crash reports contain no images of your screen.
Data retention
Your account, library, and usage records are retained while your account is active. If you delete your account (available in the app under More → Account → Delete account), your personal data is removed from our active systems. Recipes extracted from public videos may remain in our shared recipe catalog in anonymized form — they contain no personal data.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (including under GDPR and CCPA), you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data. You can exercise most of these directly in the app, or contact us at privacy@recibase.app.
Children
Recibase is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
We’ll post any changes to this policy on this page and update the date above. Material changes will be announced in the app.
